Janet Furman
I specialize in working with inventors or anyone with an idea for a money-making product. My own career began with a stint as a recording engineer with the Grateful Dead and other rock bands. After a few years, I had an idea for an electronic product for the musical instrument market. I developed a prototype, began manufacturing, and set up wholesale sales and distribution. I launched my business with very little start-up capital. I ran my company for 25 years, then sold it and retired. At the time of the sale, I had 75 employees, $10 million in annual sales, and about 100 products.

I have maintained my ties to the music industry, and currently play bass guitar in a local rock band. I have personally done angel investing, and can help clients determine if they are candidates for either angel financing or crowdfunding, and if so, how to prepare their presentations.

My mentoring style is low key and informal. I don't insist that everyone I see write a conventional business plan. Instead, I listen to the needs of my clients and try to address them as quickly as possible. I have special expertise in marketing, and can help clients plan and fine-tune their web site and other marketing materials. Janet is available on Mondays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
